young members of Eastbourne Swimming Club turned out to compete in the 3rd
and final Elvers Gala of the year, held at Moira House Pool.
When Oliver Ward (8), competed for the first time, he emerged with the trophy for Top Boy after gaining 1st places in the 25m butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke events.
Top Girl went to Kezia Lemon (7), when she took four first
places in each of her events, taking 2 seconds off both her 25m butterfly and
backstroke times.
Competing for the first time were Chandler Moore, Eden Moore, Imogen Freeborn, Emily Martin, Jesse Earl and Jessica Brialey. Chandler (11 & over), took home 1st places in impressive times in the 50m breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke, while Jessica (8), swam in time trials in 4 events, achieving a good 2:17.17 in the individual medley.
James Fallon (11 & over), achieved remarkable personal bests, taking 10 seconds off his 50m butterfly, finishing in 1:05.06 and 6.5 seconds from his breaststroke.
Keiron and Joshua Neen-Kellett (10), were neck and neck in the 50m freestyle, and finishing a split second apart, the judges and referees skills were called upon to award them 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Rhys Clarke (9), finished with 1st in the 25 m breaststroke, with 2 further 1st place and personal bests in the 25m freestyle and backstroke. Personal bests were also gained by Amy Stone, Bethany Tagg, Jessica Giddens and Rosie Canby.
It was the first time 50m butterfly competition for Khevane Byroo, Gabriel Robertson and Harrison Robertson, with Khevane adding a 50m backstroke event to his belt.
Dale Hook, Reece Bishop, Charlotte Edwards, Lauren Hook, Alicia Neen-Kellett and Ella Rigluth swam hard in all their events, seeing Lauren and Dale compete in 50m competition for the first time.
